Background

I have been living with dogs since I was a child. We had three dogs at my childhood home, two Irish wolfhounds and a mixed breed dog resembling a German shepherd.

During my early twenties, I focused on my studies, so there was no time for dogs at that time. But the year 1993 was a turning point in my life in terms of dogs. Back then my younger brother acquired a dog of his own, a St. Bernhard. Watching the puppy play and grow made me think about returning to my old hobby, dogs, and I started to search for a suitable breed.

After reading dozens and dozens of dog breed encyclopedies, I had finally made up my mind: a German pinscher it shall be! Now, after 16 years with pinschers, I'm glad to say that the breed choice was a jackpot - I wouldn't switch to any other breed. The pinscher has the looks and the temperament I admire and is generally a very healthy breed.

I acquired my first pinscher in the summer of 1994. Back then, I insisted on having a black and tan bitch, because I preferred the colour to the pure red one. If I had aimed at becoming a breeder from the beginning, I would have chosen more carefully, of course. However, the choice was not bad at all. The bitch, Aaparevon Hillary, finished her show career quite early, at 4,5 years old, with an International Champion title among other wins.
